**2018 Deadline Extended to January 21st, 2019**

The Sonder Press Chapbook Competition is held annually and open to new, emerging, and established writers of both short fiction and narrative nonfiction.  Submissions close December 31st of each year and re-open January 1st.  **2018 Deadline Extended to January 21st, 2019**

We seek well-written, engaging works of prose with a penchant for language.  Writing which has been crafted with care and precision; which attends to detail and astonishes sensibility.  Narratives which provoke and pursue.  We wish to be transported, rearranged and awakened; to feel the weight of every word.  We want distinct visions rendered in piercing prose. Storytelling which is thoughtfully wrought and delicately vibrant – which throbs the gut and burns the throat; which brings the peculiar, the off-angles and edges, to light; which leave us breathless and aching, shivering with the resplendent, churning pulse of human experience.

A winner will be selected in January and published in August.  The winner will be awarded publication, $300 cash, and ten printed copies for personal use/distribution. Prizes are awarded upon publication.

Manuscripts may be between 4,000 and 15,000 words.  Manuscripts as a whole must be previously unpublished, although individual pieces or excerpts from the manuscript may have been previously published.

Pleases include any appropriate front/back matter with your submission.

There is an entry fee of $10

Sonder Press reserves the right to forgo selecting a winner if a manuscript of suitable quality cannot be found, upon this circumstance occurring all entry fees shall be refunded.

All entries will be read blind and judged by our editorial staff.  Multiple submissions of up to three manuscripts are permitted. If submitting multiple manuscripts please select the appropriate number of additional entry fees upon submission.

We do accept simultaneous submissions, however we ask to be notified immediately if accepted elsewhere.
